A Little About Katherine & DDVS

Welcome to the Delightful Diva Voice Studio, located in beautiful Schaumburg, IL!!! My goal, as a voice instructor and performer for the past 20 years has been to provide outstanding performances and vocal training to students of all ages and abilities, while teaching the fundamentals of music and developing each individual's musicianship within a creative and motivating atmosphere.

Students at DDVS learn classically-based vocal technique, focusing on breathing, resonance, diction and overall healthy singing habits. I specialize in classical, operatic and musical theatre repertoire, but am not afraid to explore other genres, as long as they promote healthy singing habits. All genres of music can benefit from classical voice training!

Ms. Wells is a member of the Chicago NATS Chapter, former board member of the VSNATS Chapter in Phoenix, AZ, former President of the UA SNATS Chapter, and is a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists. Before relocating to Illinois, she was an adjunct professor at Estrella Mountain Community College in Goodyear, AZ. She will complete a DMA in Voice Performance through the University of Arizona in 2013. To see a more detailed bio, please visit the Bio Page. Thanks for visiting our site!

Happy Singing!

Studio Policy

Payments & Fees: My studio accepts payment by cash, check, PayPal, & The Square. Lessons are $45 per hour and $22.50 per half hour and are given at Katherine's private studio in Schaumburg, IL. The student may be pro-rated for the first month; after that, tuition is due at the beginning of the month for the number of lessons to be received (either 4 or 5 lessons, depending on the month). All competition or entry fees are also the responsibility of the student. Payments must be made prior to the lesson received. Any student delinquent after the beginning of the month will be accessed a $10 late fee.

Arriving on Time & Missed Lessons: Lessons are given once each week and are very important to the progress of the student. Please arrive 5 minutes early for your lesson time. If another lesson is in progress, please enter quietly and wait for your turn. Your punctuality is greatly appreciated. Lessons missed for illness or other emergencies may be rescheduled if time permits, provided that 24 hours notice is received. Unexcused absences & missed lessons due to extended absences or vacations will be charged the full lesson price and there are no refunds for these missed lessons. Students may reschedule an excused lesson when appropriate notice is given, however, please, limit the number of missed lessons to two within a six month period. Excessive unexcused absences may result in termination of lessons.

Music & Materials: It is the student’s responsibility to purchase and bring their music and materials to each lesson.

Your Time & Practice Expectations: Our lives are busy. There are very few people today, who's schedules aren't packed with events and "extras." The same goes for our kids. However, regular practice is essential to the progress of a voice student, as is true with any other instrument you choose to take on. Practice time will vary for each student depending on their skill level, age and personal goals. A minimum of 30 minutes, 3-5 times a week is an average amount of practice for an intermediate student. Don't be overwhelmed if you think, "I don't have an extra 90 minutes a week to sit around and sing!"--Don't panic! There are easy ways to sneak in your practice time no matter how busy you are, but you do have to make an effort. Are you willing to make that effort?
